It may be disputed whether great chefs are born or made, but in the case of Benny’s Chophouse Executive Chef Jonathan Lane, it appears to be a solid combination of both!
In 1996 Jonathan began what would become a nearly decade- long career with Four Seasons Hotel. Chef Lane attributes his continued growth and success to hard work, passion, and a commitment to high expectations. He also feels fortunate for the learning he has gained from chefs that he learned from, mentors and travels throughout his career.
Jonathan and his culinary team are sure to make Benny’s the premiere steak and chop house venue in the city of Chicago.
Growing up on a farm in Western Kansas, living off the land was a concept that Jonathan learned first-hand while When his parents took their annual trip out of town, it became Jonathan’s responsibility to cook for the family. It was during these times that he began to develop his strong love for cooking and a solid lineup of favorite items including pasta, steaks and bacon wrapped Filets.
Despite his food-based abilities, interests and background, Jonathan made the decision to pursue a more mainstream education, and earned a degree in communications and journalism from Wichita State University. After graduation and some soul searching, Jonathan knew that he needed to further pursue his true passion and enrolled in culinary school.
