Scott Okamura

General Manager

Scott Okamura – General Manager of Benny’s Chop House brings 20+ years of experience in hospitality industry. Prior to coming on board at Benny’s, Scott garnered multiple Wine Spectator “Best Award of Excellence” for wine lists he created while Beverage Director at The Capital Grille in downtown Chicago.

Restless as an engineering student at Southern Illinois University, he heeded the call of the Rocky Mountains and became hooked in hospitality at a ski resort in Utah. He opened the original Luxury Boutique Hotel 21 Kempinski as Private Dining manager in 1988. Stints in commodities trading were interrupted by a passion for food and wine.

In 2000 he attended the pre-Le Cordon Bleu Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago. His search for culinary excellence brought him to Alinea in Lincoln Park where he was able to matriculate the teachings of Chef Grant Achatz and Sommelier Joe Catterson.

If you are looking to grab the ear of your GM or just catch up with Scott ……..You’ll find him starting most of his days with a nice long run on Chicago’s beautiful Lakefront.
