Chef Carlo has been working overtime. The food tasters have too. But it’s all been worth it!

This Thanksgiving Benny’s will be offering our guests and their families a sumptuous, traditional Chef inspired feast! We’ve gone out of our way to offer the traditional Thanksgiving meal that everyone expects, but with all those special Chef touches that you can only get at Benny’s.

The turkey is slow roasted to “fall off the bone” tenderness. The country style stuffing is made in house with house-cured bacon, caramelized onion, and fresh garden sage. The carrots are honey glazed and flame caramelized just before being brought to the table for maximum sweetness. The green bean casserole features delicious cremini, oyster, and shiitake mushrooms and crispy shallots. The roasted sweet potatoes are honey glazed and topped with tasty rosemary marshmallows. Plus traditional creamy mashed potatoes, and a special Benny’s spiced cranberry and port jam to top off your plate!

And what would a Thanksgiving feast be without a dessert from our pastry chef?
This Thanksgiving he’s prepared two seasonal inspired treats:

Traditional pumpkin pie with smoked nutmeg and cinnamon, served with warm star anise

Benny’s Chop House pastry chef Aaron Lindgren has added a special sweet treat to Benny’s dessert menu just in time to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day – pecan pie. Historians say the southern gentleman loved the nutty, crusty dessert, which is believed to have originated in New Orleans. New Year’s Eve at Benny’s Chop House will be a celebration of great food and jazz artistry

Benny’s Chop House has planned the biggest jazz extravaganza in Chicago for New Year’s Eve 2012. Six of Chicago’s finest jazz performers will grace Benny’s beautiful lounge area while diners enjoy the many American contemporary culinary delights.

The entertainment begins at 5 p.m. and continues until 1 a.m.  Featured artists include the Sherry Scott Duo and the Lynn Hilton Quartet. Both Scott and Hilton are considered among the greatest jazz vocalists to make Chicago their home. The Sherry Scott Duo features Sherry Scott on vocals and Corky McClerkin on piano. The Lynn Hilton Quartet features Lynn Hilton on piano and vocals, Dexter Sims on bass and vocals, Dudley Owens on saxophone and Malcolm Banks on drums.

Oyster Wednesdays are back!

The ever-so-popular Oyster Wednesday returns to Benny’s Chop House from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bar and North Lounge. Every Wednesday, customers will enjoy a selection of premium oysters by flights of six. “Benny’s will feature five to six different east coast and five to six different west coast oysters each Wednesday,” says director of operations Mitchell Schmieding. We’ve also paired specialty cocktails, wines and craft beers to go along with the selections.

The lights will shine on Benny’s Chop House this New Year’s Eve, as the amazing vocalist Greta Pope brings her full quintet, The Greta Pope Ensemble, to Benny’s Chop House for a full evening of musical pleasure. This top notch ensemble of Chicago’s finest music makers, together with Benny’s renowned food and drink, will create a memorable New Year’s Eve celebration, certain to be one the most romantic, sophisticated – and festive  - evenings in the Windy City. The music will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 1 a.m.

The Greta Pope Ensemble will offer a unique music lover’s journey through its superb renditions of jazz standards, lush romantic ballads, sensuous Brazilian Bossa Nova classics and inspiring Broadway favorites.

Featuring Greta Pope and her magnificent vocals, the ensemble includes such in-demand players as Paul Coscino on piano, Scott Mason on bass, Steve Magnone on drums and Audley Reid on saxophone. Paul Coscino has been a regular at Benny’s Chop House over the last several months as accompanist for award-winning, internationally acclaimed vocalist Greta Pope. He is a graduate of DePaul University’s School of Music and is one of Chicago’s top musicians. Scott Mason has been on the faculty of The Roosevelt University Music Conservatory since 1984. He is a graduate of Grinnell College and is a much sought-after jazz musician in Chicago and beyond. Steve Magnone maintains a busy performing schedule around the Chicago area. He is a graduate of DePaul University’s School of Music and has served as the Percussion instructor at Triton College in River Grove, Ill., for the last 12 years. Audley Reid’s passionate approach to contemporary jazz transports listeners to an island of musical paradise, a direct result of his Jamaican/Cuban heritage. “Reid” is a true Chicago musical gem.

The acclaimed steakhouse will offer guests a special Thanksgiving menu in addition to many selections from the regular menu, making it the perfect spot for those seeking a casually elegant feast sure to please your friends and family. Benny’s special Traditional Turkey Dinner ($29.99) begins with a choice of delicious House Salad or soup of the day followed by butter basted organic turkey breast, braised turkey leg, chestnut-stone fruit stuffing, sweet potato, and giblet-sage gravy. To enhance your feast, you can order the special fall salad-Port-Poached Apple Salad, with arugula, watercress, Maytag blue cheese and sweet potato puree ($14.99), or Benny’s special side dish, Pumpkin Sage Bread Pudding ($14.99). When it comes to dessert, Benny’s pies are always a crowd favorite and, on Thanksgiving, Benny’s serves an inspired version of pumpkin pie: Grandma’s Traditional Pumpkin Pie with Pumpkin Seed Praline ($7.99)-just the right amount of sugar and spice in a rich, flakey crust. Another amazing special dessert for Thanksgiving is Spiced Pumpkin Soufflé with Eggnog Crème Anglaise, made from locally grown pumpkins ($12.99).

Imagine “THE BICYCLE BUILT FOR TWO” featuring Citadelle Gin, St-Germain, Sparkling Wine and Citrus Zests combine to make this unbelievable cocktail designed for a couple to share. Benny’s will be open Saturday, February 12, Sunday, February 13 and Monday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day.

Celebrate Children & Family on Sundays at Benny’s Chop House

Each Sunday this winter, children dine at Benny’s with our compliments! For example: Chicken Noodle Soup, Petite Filet with French Fries, and an Ice Cream Sundae with Chocolate Sauce. This special complimentary children’s menu is offered on Sundays from 3-7pm. The menu is provided for each child, per adult, based on a two course adult menu.
